Digital Patternmaking

Service type details

Digital Patternmaking

This is the technical engineering of clothing. It is the process of creating the 2D templates (patterns) that are laid onto fabric to be cut and sewn. They use specialized software (like Gerber, Lectra, or Optitex) to create precise shapes that, when sewn together, fit a human body perfectly. This also includes grading, which scales the pattern into different sizes like S, M, L, and XL. These are used for mass production and ensuring a consistent fit across a brand. They deliver digital files, usually .DXF or .PDF, that can be sent to a factory for cutting.
